The Branson Demo list: Hotels, Attractions and theaters that are no more, and what came after!

Over the years a lot has come and gone here in Branson. I guess what motivated me to write this, were some of the crazy comments on the book. People have been saying since 2000 that Branson was going down, and that the shows were dying, a hell in a hand basket kind of mentality. Well 24 years late Branson is still going strong and enjoying record highs in attendance. Whether it’s a show or a shopping mall, or an attraction, something always replaces the dearly departed theater, or attraction. It’s a place for families first and foremost and that’s the real attraction. Here’s a list from the Branson Time vault, that will amaze you. The Ray Stevens, RFD theater stood for 34 years and I think that’s pretty good. Considering it’s where a lot of things started here in Branson. Notice at the end of each demo I show you what came after it. So here we go, enjoy the ride! 

1) Melody Lane Inn-built in the mid 90’s this motel had 140 rooms and was right on the majestic strip. Demoed in 2014, a wonderful steak house was built in its stead. And is doing very well. 

2) Thunderbird inn-demoed in 2008 this amazing motel was ready to give up the ghost.

 Replaced by Chick Filet,  

3) The Remington theater, a great plush theater mastrerpiece. With a spotlight on the roof that showed all over Branson. It was awesome. Replaced with a church. 

4) Mutton Hollow-everyone knows mutt and hollow. Replaced by Celebration city, then a church. 

5) Ray Stevens theater-Country Tonite, then RFD theater. 

6) Fiddlers Inn-replaced by a race track. 

7) Baldknobbers Motor Inn-Replaced by a Barbecue Restaurant

8) Lone star restaurant replaced with a dispensary. 

9) Burger Shack demoed to the ground and replaced by Starbucks. 

10) Shoney’s 1 demoed to the ground, replaced again by itself. Shoney’s 2

11) Price Chopper-demoed to the ground and replaced by itself

12)Copper Penny was quite a sensation. Great bands, food, and so much more. Demolished and replaced with Dolly’s stampede.
